for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Director's Vision
Please consider joining the team for Orpheus' upcoming production of Beautiful! Together, we will create an unforgettable journey for audiences as we take them through Carole King's remarkable accomplishments, while celebrating her inspirational and timeless music. Our vision is to intricately weave together the magic of music, storytelling, and emotion, transporting the audience through Carole King's transformative journey. Through the power of live performance, this rendition of Beautiful will act as a catalyst for connection, empowerment, and a deep appreciation for the universal language of music. Together, we'll craft an experience that leaves an indelible mark, fostering joy, nostalgia, and a renewed appreciation for the extraordinary artistry of Carole King.
From a technical perspective, we will explore unconventional staging, abstract representations, and symbolic elements so as to lend depth and richness to the production without relying heavily on elaborate sets. We will emphasize the potency of the narrative and performances, explore multifunctional elements that can transform the stage dynamically, utilizing lighting, sound, and selective props to evoke different settings, and costumes that intentionally identify lapses in time and relocation.
We will approach the portrayal of societal issues, such as female representation and mental illness, with the utmost sensitivity and respect. Beautiful, beyond its portrayal of Carole King's story and popular hits, delves into these important themes, and we aim to honor their significance.
Don't miss your opportunity to be part of this unique and 'Beautiful' experience!

Director's Vision
“Seventy-Six Trombones led the big parade, with a hundred and ten cornets right behind…”
Please consider becoming a member of the production team for "The Music Man" a celebration of the pinnacle of classic musical theatre. This production will radiate with stylistic elements, embracing bright and bold colors that mirror the vivacity of the story. Working together we will focus on curating a visually stunning and uplifting atmosphere, capturing the essence of the show's joyous spirit.
The town and the people of River City should look like a painting, reverential of the past but not dogmatic in adhering to historical accuracy. A sweet concoction that represents the period as we wished it were. Soda shops, town picnics, white picket fences, and wandering barbershop singers in pink jackets.
We will be looking for a cast with infectious energy, every moment on stage will radiate with a sense of optimism and celebration. As a team we will focus on elevating the spirits of the audience, and the show would be delivered with a dynamic and uplifting energy.
I am also looking for an adaptable and creative set design that can be changed quickly, while still capturing the painterly, stylistic look the show will have.
Lastly, in the spirit of modern inclusivity, I am committed to casting a diverse ensemble of actors. The characters of River City will be portrayed by a cast that reflects the richness of our global community. This will not only align with contemporary values but also enriches the narrative, bringing a fresh perspective to the story while honoring its classic roots.
“There were bells, on the hill, but I never heard them at all… till there was YOU!”
